Elfyn Evans ends championship with a victory
With news a few days before the event that the final round of the championship, due to take place in Isle of Man in October, had been cancelled, Elfyn was up against David Bogie, who only needed to finish in the top 12 to win the overall championship. Elfyn and co-driver Andrew Edwards started well in the TEG Sport Subaru Impreza, setting the fastest time on the first stage.
Elfyn comments: “The conditions were slippery on the day, but we were determined to get a good result. We experienced a spin on stage six, but ended up coming first with a 28 second lead. Overall, we took six out of nine fastest times, so we are proud of our performance.”
“We are happy to finish the year with a win and TEG Sport was especially pleased, as it is the first ever win at Trackrod for that team. I’m rallying in France this week and then once back in the UK, I’ll be making a plan for what to do next. Coming second in the championship is a brilliant result, so we feel we’re ending the season on a high.”
