Elfyn's career in focus
Having progressed his career with M-Sport, Elfyn made the bold move to join the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC team. A podium in Monte Carlo followed by victory in Sweden saw him lead the WRC championship for the first time in his career. The season was shortened because of the Covid pandemic but Elfyn won again in Turkey to set up a thrilling final round showdown for the WRC title.
However, Elfyn was caught out by the winter conditions at Monza Rally and slid off the road. He handed the title to Seb Ogier but claimed runner-up spot, his best ever championship result.

TAKING ON THE WORLD
With the title race going down to the last race of the shortened season, Elfyn eventually finished WRC runner up – his best ever result
Elfyn was back in the main M-Sport WRC team for 2018 and team-mates with Seb Ogier again. The season started with a sixth in Monte Carlo but an accident in Mexico saw co-driver Dan Barritt side-lined. Phil Mills stepped in for Corsica and they finished fifth.
However, two podium finishes were to follow. With Dan back again, Elfyn finished second at Rally Portugal and third at Rally Catalunya. The season brought five stage wins and a seventh overall finish in the drivers’ championship.

TWO PODIUM FINISHES
Promising signs in a season that involved two co-drivers and two podium finishes
The 2016 season saw Elfyn take a step back into the Fiesta R5 car and partner with co-driver Craig Parry. He competed on the British Championship with DMACK and became British Champion after securing five overall victories: Mid Wales, Scottish, Nicky Grist, Ulster and Isle of Man. The pair also tackled a WRC2 programme, with overall wins on the first two rounds and again in Corsica putting them third in the championship. Elfyn also competed at Rally Barbados and rounded off the season with victory at the Bettega Memorial rally sprint in a Fiesta WRC.

THE BEST OF BRITISH
A five-star display sees Elfyn crowned as British champion, as well as racking up wins in a number of other events
This was Elfyn’s first full season in a WRC car and also the start of his long-term relationship with Red Bull as a Red Bull athlete. A steady start saw him sixth in Monte Carlo and fourth on Rally Mexico.
Another fourth on Tarmac at Rallye Deutschland also saw Elfyn take his first WRC stage win. He completed the year with fifth at Wales Rally GB and eighth position on his first full season in the WRC championship.

A FAST STARTER
Elfyn makes his WRC debut as Red Bull gives him wings
Elfyn had both a busy and successful season. Tackling the WRC Academy, he dominated by taking four wins from six rounds on the Acropolis, Finland, Germany and France events to seal the championship title before the final round in Spain. He also contested the British Championship and won the R2 class on the first five events. He was in title contention but missed the last round to concentrate on the WRC Academy. Elfyn won the FST International shoot-out and moved to Cumbria to work with M-Sport.

IN THE FAST LANE

In a season of complete domination, Elfyn took on the British Fiesta Sporting Trophy series, which followed the British Rally Championship, and won every single round using both a Fiesta ST and R2.
He was crowned British Junior Champion, Fiesta Sporting Trophy UK Champion and was nominated for the Pirelli Star Driver award. The Star Driver shoot out took place in Sweet Lamb and Elfyn was announced as winner, taking away the prize drive of a British rally campaign in a Group N car.

ON A ROLL ALREADY
His first season in a Fiesta ST sees him reaching the top step of the podium
This was Elfyn’s first year in a Fiesta ST with the Fiesta Sporting Trophy UK. Despite being under strict instruction to finish events, he had a big roll on the second round at the Pirelli Rally but then went on to win on the Severn Valley.
However, on his first WRC start at Wales Rally GB, he ended the season in style winning the

Taking up his prize drive, Elfyn finished second overall in the British Rally Championship at the wheel of a Subaru Impreza N15. He had wins on the Bulldog Rally and Trackrod Rally and was running high on the Pirelli and Ulster events before punctures dropped him down the order.
In preparation for the WRC Academy in 2012, he sold his Fiesta ST and built a Fiesta R2 and took on three WRC rounds: Finland, France and GB. He was leading in Wales but hit a hole in Sweet Lamb and retired with front end damage.

TIME TO ACCELERATE

With new sponsor Hustings on board Elfyn tackled both the UK and Irish Fiesta Sporting Trophy championships. He had a strong season, taking overall victory on both championships and putting in some solid performances in the Fiesta ST.
This included wins on Severn Valley, Swansea Bay, Galway and Circuit of Ireland rounds.

Elfyn shows his potential, capturing both the UK and Irish Fiesta Sporting Trophy championships
Elfyn started his career in the UK Formula 1000 gravel championship driving a home-built Nissan Micra. But he rolled on the fourth event Quintin Stages Rally, destroying the car, and moved to a new left-hand drive Micra for the rest of the season.
He finished second in the championship after winning the final round on the Cambrian Rally.

Elfyn starts his career in the UK Formula 1000 gravel championship in a car he builds himself
After finishing second in the 2020 World Rally Championship, Elfyn is aiming to go one better in 2021. Continuing with Toyota Gazoo Racing and the Yaris WRC, he’s taking on a championship packed with new events and hoping that the speed and experience from last season will help in his championship challenge.

GOING ONE BETTER
Elfyn is aiming to build on his 2020 second place and claim his first World Rally Championship title
Continuing with M-Sport, Elfyn switched co-driver and welcomed Scott Martin to the team. The partnership got off to a slow start with an accident in Monte Carlo, but they quickly got into their stride and soon achieved two podiums on two consecutive events – Rally Mexico and Tour de Corse.
After a hard landing on Rally Estonia, Elfyn broke his back and missed three events: Finland, Germany and Turkey. He came back to compete on the two final rallies of the year and secured fifth in the WRC championship.

Despite breaking his back after a hard landing, Elfyn, with new co-driver Scott Martin, still managed a successful WRC season
Elfyn continued in DMACK colours in 2017 and was back in the WRC at the wheel of the new-generation Fiesta RS WRC. He started the season well with stage wins on Monte Carlo but it was Rally Argentina where he really shone. Leading the rally from the opening day, he missed out on victory by 0.7 seconds after an epic final stage battle with Thierry Neuville.
Elfyn went on to score a podium in Finland but the season will be remembered for his first-ever WRC victory on home soil at Wales Rally GB, edging out Neuville by 37.3 seconds, and helping M-Sport win the WRC Manufacturer championship.

Elfyn finished seventh in the drivers’ championship on his second full WRC season with M-Sport, which included his first WRC podium finish. After fourth place in Mexico, his first podium came at Rally Argentina with a third place finish.
That was eclipsed with second overall on Tour de Corse after some clever driving and tyre choices on a wet event. Elfyn rounded the season off with sixth on his home event at Wales Rally GB.

SOUITH AMERICA SUCCESS
Taking up his prize drive as a works M-Sport driver, Elfyn stepped-up to 4WD machinery and was heavily involved with the development and testing of the Fiesta R5.
Competing in WRC2, he was second on Rallye Deutschland, finishing sixth overall, and Rallye de France before winning his first WRC2 round at home on Wales Rally GB. He also got a last-minute call up to replace Nasser Al Attiyah on Rally Italia Sardegna. Using Nasser’s co-driver Giovanni Bernacchini and competing in a WRC car for the first time, he put in a solid performance to finish sixth overall.
