Welshman claims WRC title after nerve-wracking final stage in Sardinia.

Elfyn Evans became the first British world rally champion for 25 years and the first Welshman ever to hold the crown after unbelievably dramatic final day of the season at Rally Italia Sardegna.
Going into the final Wolf Power stage, it couldn't have been closer between Elfyn and Swedish rival Oliver Solberg – with whoever finished the stage with more bonus points set to claim the title.
Elfyn was through the stage first but Oliver Solberg was up on the splits coming into the final couple of corners only to see his title hopes run aground after he went wide, going off the road and on to the beach. It was enough to give Elfyn his historic first world title.
