Welsh WRC driver finishes runner up in historic team display at Safari Rally.
It was a second podium in three events for Elfyn as he overcame the arduous challenges of Safari Rally Kenya to finish second and help the Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC Team score an historic 1-2-3-4 finish.
Round six of the WRC was always going to be a massive challenge and the mix of tough roads, deep ‘fesh fesh’ sand, tyre-piercing rocks and thick mud made it a true African adventure.
Elfyn started well, holding an early advantage but slowly lost touch with the lead after two punctures cost him time.
But he managed the balance of speed and taking care of his GR Yaris rally car well, to put in a strong performance to finish runner-up and help the team take an amazing result.
