Great performance in Power Stage keeps him in fourth in title hunt.
Fifth overall combined with a strong Power Stage performance saw Elfyn maintain fourth place in the FIA World Rally Championship title fight despite struggling with the feeling of his GR Yaris in the tricky winter conditions.
From the outset, Elfyn couldn’t find the exact balance needed to push to the limit and challenge for the top times on the frozen forest roads. He made some progress on the opening day, after making some set-up changes at mid-day service, his pace improved during the afternoon’s second pass.
But a costly spin on Saturday afternoon knocked him out of podium contention. From then it was just a case of salvaging what he could and securing some points.
A solid drive to the finish, combined with a push in the rally-ending Power Stage where he collected four additional points for setting the second fastest time, was enough to keep Elfyn in fourth place on the championship table.
